Sound Design

This production was the first official sound design opportunity for UNCG. I was unsure of what to expect, and as it progressed I got a whole new understanding of the expectations and intensity of working on sound for devised performance structures.

I treated this production as a standard straight play for the entirety of the design process. It was not until rehearsals got far underway that I understood the breadth of devised dance numbers present.

The piece aimed to delve into discussions of conflicts with colonization and the effects on the native populations, as such, I did a lot of research into traditional Peruvian chants with the library resources available.

Most of my work was lost when I graduated.

Carpentry

During the winter break I volunteered to help as a carpenter. I wanted to get more training and time spent on welding and metal work. During my time helping we built a roughly 30’ mirror angled to look like an anatomical heart that would be hung above the stage. I practiced MIG welding and basic carpentry skills.
